NLG Non-Resident Appointment Renewal Process

NLG’s appointment renewal process and what to expect during appointment renewal windows with National Life Group.

It is important to understand that license renewals and appointment renewals are separate processes. License renewals are the responsibility of the producer as they are a contract between the producer and the state department in which you have obtained your license. Appointment renewals are completed by the insurance carriers (NLG), in which you are appointed for each of your insurance licenses.

  • NLG covers all resident appointment renewal fees at no cost to the producer.
  • NLG will always renew your resident appointment.
  • NLG does not cover non-resident appointment renewal fees for our producers.
  • Non-Renewal of non-resident state appointments do not impact your contract with NLG

If a producer does not have enough commission flow to cover the cost of the appointment renewal fee NLG opts for non-renewal of that appointment. This process allows NLG to stop a debt from being added to your record. If the producer does have enough commission flow to cover the appointment renewal fee than NLG will renew your appointment for you and the appointment renewal fee will be deducted from your commissions.

Should you not have enough commission flow to cover this appointment renewal fee, NLG will not be renewing your non-resident appointment in this state. Rest assured, non-renewal of this appointment does not impact your ability to sell in this state in the future; submission of a policy in this state will trigger the re-appointment process and cover the business in house. A new appointment fee will apply.
